Throughout someone’s life, there can be a number of people that have an impact and are influential in their life. Elli Jones says that she has a couple of people that have filled this role in her life.
“My mom is one of my biggest role models,” she said. “She always motivates me to be better and she shows it herself. She is one of the best people I know. A teacher that has made the biggest impact on me is Mrs. Sheiffer, my leadership teacher. I have known her since I was a kid and she has made me realize how to be a good leader in my sports and in life.”
Jones is in her senior year at Perry High School, where she is a member of the golf and cheer teams. Along with her sports, she is also involved in Youth and Government, the National Honor Society, and the Student Council.
Jones has put in a lot of hard work so that she can be at the top of her game, not just for herself but also for her team.
“It takes dedication and a belief in yourself in order to be successful,” she said. “It also takes motivation to keep getting better. I think you are motivated by the desire to better yourself and be helpful to those around you.”
While she is thankful for all the teammates that she is surrounded by, Elli says that there is one teammate that she thinks has a lot of potential.
“I think the least appreciated cheerleader on my team is definitely Jaylynn Malcolm,” she said. “She has so much talent and I want to see her shine next year at state.”
Throughout her career, she has made a lot of memories. But Jones says that there are a couple that stand out as her favorite.
“I think my highlight moments would have to be winning regionals my freshman year and being a four-time Academic State Champion,” she stated.
Wearing the Perry uniform is something that Elli is proud to be able to do.
“When I cheer, I represent my school by cheering for the players and making everyone in the stands love Perry.”
