Perry’s Andrew Kukuk – Athlete Spotlight – Presented by Seth Wadley of Perry

Andrew Kukuk has built his high school career on one simple principle: give everything you have, every time you step on the field, mat, or track. A senior at Perry High School, Kukuk is a rare four-sport athlete, competing in football, baseball, wrestling, and track, balancing each with determination and pride.

“What motivates me is to always do my best and be a great example, because you never know who’s watching and who looks up to you.”

That mindset drives Kukuk not only as an athlete but as a leader. Whether it’s under the Friday night lights or during practice repetitions, he approaches every moment with purpose. His teammates have played a major role in shaping that attitude.

“Some of my biggest role models were teammates I had who always pushed me to do my best.”

Among those teammates, one stands out.

“A teammate I enjoy working with every single day is Gunnar Farrar. He’s pushed me to do the very best I can in absolutely everything inside and outside of sports.”

Kukuk’s work ethic has been reinforced by influential mentors, especially Coach Rupp, who taught him lessons that extend beyond athletics.

“He taught me that nothing is ever given, and you need to work for everything.”

That lesson shows in Kukuk’s relentless approach. Success hasn’t come easy, but through hard work and dedication, even on days when motivation is low, he’s earned opportunities to compete at high levels.

“To be successful in my sports, it’s taken hard work and dedication, even when you don’t feel like putting in work.”

One of the most memorable parts of his career has been competing on big stages, testing himself against top competition and rising to the challenge.

“The highlight of my career is getting to play on some of the biggest stages in all sports.”

Kukuk also takes pride in recognizing others, including teammate Zane Wolfe.

“I feel like Zane Wolfe is pretty unappreciated. He’s one of the best pitchers I’ve ever played with and he deserves to do great things at the next level.”

Beyond sports, Kukuk is active in Student Council, NHS, and leadership programs, reflecting his commitment to his school.

“Representing my school is very important to me, of all the younger kids that look up to me and what I do in sports.”

For Kukuk, being an athlete is about more than winning; it’s about setting the standard for those who follow.
