Perry’s Bonnie Childs – Presented by Stillwater Medical Perry

High school athletes work hard in order to be at their best when it comes time to hit the field or court. Whether it is putting in extra practice time, more work in the weight room, or something else, they are always trying to get better. Bonnie Childs says that along with all the physical work, there is another important aspect in order to be successful.
“Softball is a mental game,” she said. “So being mentally challenged motivates me to become the best version of myself. The commitments and goals that I have set for myself have impacted my life in all aspects. Working day in and day for better outcomes has impacted me in all areas of life.”

Childs is a senior at Perry High School, where she is a member of the softball and basketball teams. Outside of sports, she is also a member of the National Honor Society and Student Council.

Throughout her life, Bonnie has had a number of people that have had an influence on her. But she has a few that have had a bigger impact.

“The biggest influences on my life would have to be my coaches and parents,” Childs said. “They set the bar high and have expectations that make me a better person and player.”

This will be Bonnie’s first season at Perry, coming from Frontier High School last season. And while it can be tough coming into a new school late in the game, Childs says that her new teammates have welcomed her with open arms.
“As my first year of Perry softball comes to a start, I can start by saying there is no place I would rather be in my senior year,” she said. “This program is a game changer and I have grown so much as a person and player this past month than I have ever before. My teammates and I are true competitors, and we have coaches that flourish our abilities on the daily. We have such a great community that stands right behind us, and I cannot wait to get started.”

She already has her near future planned as she has committed to play softball at Langston University.
