Who has received all district outfield in 2022, all district utility in 2023, and a basketball honorable mention in 2023 and 2024? Cushing’s very own, Kinsley Williams. Kinsley currently participates in softball and basketball. She says that to be a great athlete, “ you have to have a good mindset. You can’t let everything bother you and you have to be confident. You can’t dwell on the past. You have to think about what you can do better next time. With a good mindset, all the physical work will just come easier.” Anyone participating in sports can easily agree that she is right.
Kinsley has played softball since she was four and has been playing basketball since she was seven. She grew up having an older brother involved in sports. Even before Kinsley was participating, she was always at the gym or at the ballpark, watching her big brother play. Her favorite sports moment is postseason with her team and playing the game when the pressure is on, and it really counts.

In her free time, if Kinsley isn’t spending time with her friends, she’s either watching softball or participating in it. Her favorite part about the great game is defense. “I love to see how much range I can have at shortstop and how many great plays I can make,” she says. To stay motivated, Kinsley always tries to find the good in a situation instead of focusing on the bad. She knows that we have to keep moving and pushing through our mistakes or tough situations in order to achieve greatness.
Her advice to her fellow athletes is “to always play a game like it’s your last. You never know who’s watching, or when that sport will be over for you. No matter how frustrating something can be; keep working hard because it will pay off.” Kinley’s favorite subject is Science, because she’s interested in the medical field and enjoys learning about the human body. Putting that interest to work, she plans to go onto college and play collegiate softball while pursuing a degree in nursing.
