Perkins-Tryon’s Blakely DeMuth – Presented by Stillwater Milling Co.

In her first year of high school, Blakely DeMuth wasted no time getting involved in activities and sports at Perkins-Tryon High School. The freshman is a member of the FFA program, she cheers and plays softball, and is involved in several clubs including student council and FCA. But FFA has always been a passion for DeMuth.

“I started FFA in eighth grade. Prior to that, I was a Cloverbud starting in kindergarten and transitioned to a 4H member when I was in third grade. I am a 4th generation FFA member. My Dad encouraged me to become involved,” said DeMuth.

Being part of the program has allowed DeMuth to continue showing livestock and meet new people from every corner of the state.

“I absolutely love that I have already met so many new people across the state of Oklahoma. I also enjoy all of the opportunities that I have had to learn leadership skills, and my favorite memory from this year was attending FFA Alumni Camp for the first time,” said DeMuth. “I am involved in showing pigs, livestock judging, opening and closing ceremonies, speeches, and cattle grading.”

As a member of the cheer squad, DeMuth said she loves being on the field for Friday nights.

“My favorite thing about being a cheerleader is that I get to support my school and be a part of a team. There is nothing like being under the stadium lights! I started cheering when I was only three years old,” said DeMuth. “I am so proud of our team. We have faced some adversity this year and have overcome it as a team and we are thriving. Coach Sweeden is bringing us to a new level. We are working hard to go to Nationals this year! We are a big family, and I love each and every one of them! The team has welcomed me as a rookie, and I appreciate that!”

DeMuth said she has found inspiration in a former cheerleader and her parents.

“She probably doesn’t even realize this, but a former cheerleader, Amiaya Rathbun really inspired me from a young age. I always watched her in the dance studio growing up and then on the sidelines. I have always admired her kindness and smile. She was always cheering me on and encouraging me. In 6th grade when I first made P-T Cheer, she was the first one to run up and hug me,” said DeMuth. “Outside of school, my parents are my inspiration. They always support me no matter what and are at all my events. When I’m down, they lift me up, and they remind me to not sweat the small stuff and to have fun. My parents are who I want to be when I grow up.”
