The Stillwater Lady Pioneers Golf Team enters the 2026 season with a blend of proven leadership and promising young talent, setting the stage for another strong run on the course. Under the guidance of head coach Angela L Knott, the Lady Pioneers are building off the momentum of a state-qualifying season and a recent history of success at the highest level.
Stillwater returns three key golfers from last year’s state lineup: Nikki Pitts, Maggie Ruby, and Kennedy Reed. Their experience and consistency provide a solid foundation for a team that has grown accustomed to competing deep into the postseason. With a couple of talented freshmen expected to step into varsity roles, the Lady Pioneers are focused on maintaining their competitive edge while continuing to develop depth.
Leading the way is Maggie Ruby, a standout who has been a fixture in the varsity lineup since her freshman year. Ruby has consistently delivered in big moments, including a fifth-place individual finish at the 2025 state tournament, where she helped Stillwater secure a runner-up team finish. As a freshman in 2024, she placed 16th individually and contributed to a state championship victory. Heading into this season, Ruby is expected to compete as the team’s No. 1 or No. 2 golfer and remains a central piece of Stillwater’s success.
Freshman Timber Wick is another name to watch. Expected to break into the varsity rotation, Wick has already shown the potential to score in the mid-70s to mid-80s, a promising range for a young golfer adjusting to the high school level. Her development will be key as the team rounds out its top five.
Nikki Pitts provides leadership that extends far beyond her play. Known for her character, organization, and encouragement, Pitts sets the tone for the team and plays a vital role in mentoring younger golfers as they step into bigger roles.
“We have 3 returning golfers from last year’s state qualifying team: Nikki Pitts, Maggie Ruby, and Kennedy Reed. We have a couple of freshmen that will round out the top 5.”
“Maggie has been playing in the top five since her ninth-grade year. She has played a major role for the team each year at the state tournament. In 2025, Maggie finished #5 individually and helped the team finish 2nd at state. In 2024, as a freshman, Maggie finished 16th and helped win the state championship. Maggie will either be our 1 or 2 bag this season and will be a major contributor.”
“Nikki is an outstanding person. She is a great golfer but an even better person. She is caring and organized. She leads the team and encourages the younger golfers.”
