PERKINS-TRYON DEMONS
Head Coach: DAWAYNE HUDSON
9-4
Few programs in the area have built as much momentum as Perkins-Tryon, and the Demons head into the new season eager to build on a 9-4 campaign. A challenging non-district slate and a new district alignment will push this group early, but the head coach Dawayne Hudson welcomes that test for a roster that returns seven starters on offense and eight on defense. The Demons believe that combination of experience and a demanding schedule can forge a team ready for another deep run when the games matter most.
Offensively, Perkins-Tryon has the advantage of an experienced core at the skill positions and along the line. Quarterback Jerett Gibson guides the attack with the ability to stretch the field and keep the offense balanced. Wide receivers Weston Atkinson and Caleb Reedy give the Demons reliable targets on the perimeter, capable of moving the chains and hitting big plays when defenses overcommit to the run. In the backfield, running back Travien Tillis provides a strong presence as a runner and pass catcher, while linemen such as Braydyn Turpin and Brock Brown anchor a group tasked with setting the tone in the trenches. With so many veterans returning, the emphasis will be on efficiency, tempo, and limiting mistakes.
The defense may be the true backbone of this year’s Perkins-Tryon squad, with eight starters back and a clear identity built around toughness and energy. Senior Raudel De Loera brings that edge as a linebacker and tight end, setting the tone with his physical style and relentless motor in both practice and games. Atkinson, Tillis, Brown, Turpin, Reedy, and Ricardo Mendoza give the Demons proven playmakers at every level of the defense, from the line to the secondary. The unit will focus on stopping the run first, forcing offenses into long-yardage situations, and then using its experience to generate pressure and take the ball away. If the defense can consistently flip field position and create short fields for the offense, Perkins-Tryon will again be a team that no one is eager to see on the schedule.
