After finishing 15-17 a season ago, the Glencoe Panthers enter year two under head coach Lee Linsenmeyer focused on growth, consistency, and building toward a long-awaited winning record. While the roster remains young, there is a quiet confidence surrounding the group thanks to returning production and developing talent across the field.
Glencoe will rely heavily on its lone senior, Kylie Makerney, to set the tone. A proven leader in the circle and a dependable presence at the plate, Makerney brings experience and versatility to a youthful lineup. She also provides stability at first base and is expected to deliver her strongest season yet as she draws attention from the next level. Her leadership will be critical as the Panthers navigate a challenging schedule.
Offensively, the Panthers return several key contributors, including sophomore Brooklyn Stokes. After leading the team in hitting last season, Stokes enters the year as one of the most dynamic players in the lineup. Her ability to impact the game from multiple positions, including shortstop, catcher, and third base, gives Glencoe flexibility while her continued development makes her a difficult matchup for opposing teams.
Fellow sophomore Miranda Morton adds another strong bat to the top of the order. Expected to hit in either the leadoff or two spot, Morton’s consistency and versatility allow her to contribute at catcher, shortstop, and third base. With continued improvement, she has the potential to take another step forward offensively.
Alissa Hesser brings reliability and effort to every aspect of the game. Known for her work ethic and team-first mentality, she fills multiple roles defensively while leading by example. Her steady presence adds balance to a roster filled with emerging players.
Freshman Jaylee Voight is one of several underclassmen expected to make an immediate impact. With the ability to play nearly any infield position, she provides depth and versatility while gaining valuable varsity experience.
If the Panthers can pair their strong pitching and returning hitters with improved defensive consistency, they have the pieces to turn potential into results and take a meaningful step forward this season.
