PAWNEE BLACK BEARS
Head Coach: KAREY JONES
7-4
After a strong 7-4 season, Pawnee moves into a new district with excitement and a sense that this team is built to compete right away. Head coach Karey Jones, now in his 11th year at the helm, says, “We are very excited for this team and the new district this year,” reflecting a confidence in both his veteran leaders and the depth across the roster.
Offensively, Pawnee will lean on its single-wing attack, a physical, misdirection-heavy scheme that fits the Black Bears’ personnel. Senior quarterback Adam Pratt (6-1, 175) returns after producing 676 rushing yards and 435 passing yards, giving the offense a dual-threat presence in the backfield. Senior running back Kash DeMauro (6-1, 230) adds power between the tackles, while senior wingback DeJaQuan Lewis-Stroud (6-1, 175), who rushed for 579 yards, brings big-play ability on the edge.
On defense, Pawnee will base out of a 10-1 alignment that emphasizes speed, pressure, and pursuit of the football. The Black Bears bring back eight defensive starters, including sophomore linebacker Coy McWilliams (6-1, 170), junior outside linebacker Aiden Marquez (5-11, 180), and junior cornerback Alex Birmingham (5-8, 165). That experience should help Pawnee handle the challenges of a new district as the unit focuses on alignment, tackling, and creating turnovers each week.
