Sutton Reynolds doesn’t leave much to chance. A senior at Ponca City High School, Reynolds has built his final season on discipline, preparation, and a quiet determination shaped long before he ever stepped onto a tennis court.
For the 6A No. 1 doubles player, success isn’t just about talent, it’s about structure. Between practices, matches, and his involvement in the orchestra, Reynolds has learned to stay ahead of the game by planning every step.
“You have to learn your schedule weeks before it comes that way you’re always prepared without surprises.”
That mindset has helped carry him to one of the biggest moments of his career: qualifying for the state tournament. It’s a milestone that reflects years of steady work and the influence of the people closest to him.
“My parents, they got me involved in all the activities I strive to excel in today.”
Reynolds credits them not just for support, but for the motivation that drives him to keep improving. That same drive shows up on the court, especially in practice battles with teammate Luke, who pushes him to compete at a higher level.
“Luke is the best competition.”
While Reynolds thrives on competition, there’s also a greater pride behind every match he plays. Representing Ponca City means something personal, especially when facing powerhouse private schools.
“It means a lot to win for Ponca City.”
Off the court, Reynolds points to teacher Ms. Klein as a major influence, helping shape his approach to both academics and life. Balancing it all hasn’t been easy, but it’s a challenge he’s embraced.
As his high school career winds down, Reynolds hasn’t forgotten the teammates who helped along the way, including those who don’t always get the spotlight.
“Electra Wilson, she’s the least appreciated player on our team.”
Whether in the classroom, on the court, or performing with the orchestra, Reynolds represents consistency and commitment. And for him, that’s what success has always been about.
