Ponca City senior Jasmine Sodowsky thrives in the moments most players shy away from. Whether she’s running the point or spotting up on the wing, Sodowsky embraces the intensity of tight games, using the energy around her to elevate her play.
“What motivates me the most is the energy from a close game. When the fans are loud and fully into it, it pushes me to compete harder and give everything I’ve got.”
A dynamic guard who splits time between shooting guard and point guard, Sodowsky built an impressive final season. She finished second on the team in scoring and led in three-pointers, showcasing both her consistency and her ability to stretch the floor. Among her standout performances was a career night against Victory Christian, where she poured in 24 points, including six shots from beyond the arc. Her efforts also earned her recognition as a VYPE Top 100 selection and brought in six collegiate offers.
Despite individual success, Sodowsky remained grounded in her approach, using challenges as fuel for growth.
“What motivates me to keep pushing when things get tough is my commitment to improvement. We didn’t have a great season, but I always tried to do my best. When I had a game I wasn’t happy with, I got back in the gym and worked to get back on track.”
Sodowsky’s mindset has been shaped by influences beyond basketball. A lifelong motocross rider, she draws inspiration from the resilience of athletes in that sport, particularly Ken Roczen, whose perseverance through adversity left a lasting impression.
Off the court, her development has been strengthened by key relationships. Her AAU coach, Harper Owens, challenged her to grow beyond her comfort zone, while her family, especially her mother, has been a constant presence throughout her journey.
“My family has been extremely supportive, especially my mom. She has only missed one game since I started playing in third grade.”
That support, combined with her pride in representing her school, has defined Sodowsky’s career.
“Representing my school and basketball means a lot of pride and responsibility. I want to give everything I have every time I step on the court.”
As she prepares for the next level, Sodowsky leaves behind a legacy built on toughness, growth, and a love for the game.
