Heston is proud to represent both his school and community as a student athlete. Heston proclaimed, “Representing my school means a lot to me, because I am not just representing my school, but also my town. I feel like I need to play my best every single game for all the fans who drove to watch us play.”
In terms of what motivates him, Heston looks to those close to him. Heston stated, “My friends and teammates motivate me the most. We have been playing basketball together since we started.”
As far as what it has taken for Heston to become successful in sports, Heston explained, “It takes being disciplined and dedicated. You have to get better even when you do not want to, and you have to listen to your coaches- no matter what – even if you think they are wrong; they know a lot more than you do.”
Many memories are made during a student-athlete’s career. For Heston, two particular moments stand out. Heston recalled, “The highlight moment of my basketball career was when I scored 17 points against Shattuck at the Stride Bank Center. The highlight moment of my track career was running at state in the 100m my sophomore year.”
In addition to playing basketball and running track, Heston is involved with other extracurricular activities. Heston stated, “I am involved with Student Council, the National Honor Society. and I am the 2027 Class President for my school.”
After graduating from high school, Heston plans on pursuing higher education. Heston stated, “After graduating from school, I would like to run track at The University of Oklahoma, and become a pharmacist.”
