Kennon Sharp
In his last season of prep basketball, Garber High School’s Kennon Sharp is looking forward
to taking the court as a senior and returning to his guard spot for the Wolverines.
Basketball isn’t the only sport or activity Sharp is involved in at GHS. In the spring he will
take his talents to the baseball diamond, participate in organizations like Fellowship of
Christian Athletes and National Honor Society, and FFA.
Last season on the court, Sharp averaged 8.0 points and shot 41% from the three-point line.
Being on the court with his teammates is where he feels at his best.
“I love that we play as a team and take pride in the little things,” Sharp said.
This season Sharp is focused on helping his team win and becoming a leader for the
underclassmen on the team. His drive and focus will help foster the next generation of
hoopers at Garber.
“The goal this year is becoming a leader for my younger and less experienced teammates,”
Sharp said. As a member of the FFA chapter, Sharp is familiar with the agriculture life that Ag exposes
students to in various ways. Sharp is involved in livestock and enjoys the Ag life.
“I joined FFA in the eighth grade,” said Sharp. “I show and raise sheep. In my free time I’m
usually at the barn working sheep or in the gym. I plan to attend college and continue
working and selling feed for my family’s business.”
Sharp said he finds inspiration in his family and how hard they word every day to keep the
farm going to tackle tasks that motivate Sharp to work just as hard.
“My parents inspire me. They lead by example through hard work and constant support.
Watching them face challenges has motivated me to do my best every day,” Sharp said.
With all five starters from last year’s team gone thanks to graduation, Sharp is stepping up
to become the leader the team needs this season as head coach Cade Upshaw looks to field
a new starting five this season.
