PERRY MAROONS

Coach: SAM DAVISON

2024-25 Record: 4-21

The Perry Maroons are looking to bounce back after a rough season last year. After finishing 4–21, Head Coach Sam Davison, now in his third season, believes this team has the experience, competitiveness, and leadership required to take a significant step. Though the Maroons are not especially deep, the group’s energy, effort, and maturity give the coaching staff optimism about doubling last year’s win total and becoming a tougher matchup each week.

Perry’s roster is anchored by a strong collection of juniors and seniors who have grown together through challenges and who now step into the season with elevated expectations. Senior Derek Trotter provides stability and leadership, setting the tone through his work ethic and presence on both ends of the floor. Fellow senior Trevan Tabbert brings toughness and reliability, helping to give the group a confident, seasoned edge.

The junior class plays a major role in Perry’s plans as well. Elliott Milligan and Zane Wolfe return with game experience and the ability to impact multiple facets of the offense. Their improvement over the offseason has positioned them to take on larger roles. Junior guard Jaxon Boone adds athleticism and playmaking, while Heston Witter gives the Maroons another dependable contributor capable of making winning plays.

Several underclassmen also factor into Perry’s rotation. Sophomores Kian Thompson and Max Carris continue to develop and offer depth in key stretches. Freshman Nathan Ford joins the varsity group and brings size, energy, and long-term potential, qualities that should benefit him as he gains experience throughout the year.

Assistant Coach Carson Rames supports the program’s daily work, helping foster the consistency and fundamentals necessary for a team with a narrow rotation.

The Maroons know they must compete with intensity every night, but Davison believes this group embraces that challenge. With a core that plays hard, communicates well, and takes pride in representing Perry, the Maroons enter the season with the belief that their improvement will show up in the win column. For a team looking to take the next step, the pieces are finally in place to make that happen.
