Blackwell High School sophomore Nora Glass is making her mark as one of the most well-rounded students on campus. Whether on the field, on the court, or in the classroom, Glass thrives on staying active and being a leader among her peers. She competes in both softball and basketball for the Maroons, while also serving in student council, pep club, and cheerleading, making her a constant presence in school life.
On the softball diamond, Glass takes on the demanding role of catcher, a position that requires toughness, leadership, and focus. She credits her experiences in athletics with teaching her valuable life lessons. “It has taught me to push through all challenges, even when they get tough,” Glass said.
Glass finds inspiration close to home, pointing to her mother as her greatest role model. “She inspires me to face my own challenges and to never back down,” Glass said. She also admires teammates who display determination, singling out Addison Schroeder as someone who has made a lasting impact on her. “She shows great effort in every game and everything she does,” Glass added.
When reflecting on her proudest moment in sports, Glass recalled a game that brought her team and school community together. “Beating Alva in softball after not beating them in years” stands out as her favorite memory so far. Victories like that, she said, remind her why she loves representing Blackwell. “To be able to show the pride to the school and to the team,” Glass explained.
Her dedication, positive attitude, and team-first mentality have not gone unnoticed. Cushing Softball Coach Kenzie Ward offered high praise for the sophomore catcher: “Nora is one of a kind. Athletic, caring, and a team motivator. Nora is a ‘do what’s best for the team’ type of player. She’s the girl who will give you the shirt off her back. I’ve never heard her complain; all I hear is ‘what can I do’ and ‘where do you need me, Coach.’ Her character will take her far in life.”
With her strong work ethic, leadership, and heart for others, Nora Glass is not only excelling in athletics but also building a foundation for lasting success.
