Perry High School junior, Gunnar Farrar, is a standout multi-sport athlete who brings passion and drive to everything he does. A key player on the football, baseball, and track teams, Gunnar plays quarterback and defensive back on the gridiron and serves as a utility player in baseball. For him, motivation comes from a deep desire to see what he’s capable of achieving.
“My dad is my biggest influence,” Gunnar shared. “He pushes me every day and doesn’t let me slack.” Another strong mentor in his life has been Coach Rupp, his 8th-grade science teacher. “He didn’t just teach science, he taught life lessons that I still think about.”

Gunnar’s key for success in sports is simple: “You must show up every day ready to get better. Do not waste an opportunity.” One of his favorite memories came during a stormy game against Millwood during the 2024 season. “It was pouring rain and still my favorite game I’ve ever played in,” he said.
While competition fuels him, one matchup he particularly enjoys is against Chisholm. “They’re always good games,” he said. In practice, teammate Andrew Kukuk keeps him on his toes. “He’s super competitive and makes me better.”
Beyond athletics, Gunnar engages in Student Council and the Gifted and Talented program. He’s also a fan of David Goggins, whom he follows on social media for motivation. “His life story is inspiring, and his videos always give me a boost.”
Balancing academics and sports is something Gunnar takes seriously. “You’ve got to set aside time for both and make sure it gets done,” he explained. Representing Perry High School means a lot to him. “I’ve grown up here, it’s an honor to suit up and play.”
Looking into the future, Gunnar plans to attend college and pursue a career in aviation. With his mindset and dedication, the sky is truly the limit.
