Q&A with Perry’s Meagan Rames – Presented by First Bank and Trust Co

VYPE: What grade are you in and what sports do you play?

Rames: I am a senior at Perry High School and I cheer and play golf.

VYPE: What teammate has left the biggest impression on you?

Rames: Bella Porter has had the biggest impression on me. We cheer and golf together, but she also plays basketball and softball. Even though she’s in the grade below me, she inspires me to work hard in what I do. She plays four different sports, but is very successful and equally talented in all of them. Her drive is something I really admire about her. She’s also very smart, and maintains a 4.0 GPA despite the many things she is involved in.

VYPE: Who is your favorite teacher from any grade?

Rames: It’s hard to just pick one, but one of my favorite teachers would probably be my high school art and photography teacher, Mrs. Allred. She has such an uplifting personality and is always very supportive of her students’ aspirations.

VYPE: Which professional athlete do you look up to?

Rames: I really look up to USA track athlete, Gabby Thomas. She went to Harvard, is a three-time Olympic gold medalist and works at a volunteer health clinic when she’s not training. Even though she’s a very successful athlete, she continues her education with hopes to become a leader in healthcare.

VYPE: What has your sport taught you that makes you a better person?

Rames: My sport has taught me a lot of valuable lessons that have shaped me into the leader I am today. I’ve learned that we succeed by encouraging others and to always preserve even when things get hard. I do my best to be a positive influence for my teammates.

VYPE: What accomplishment or memory are you most proud of?

Rames: I’m most proud of my freshman cheer season. We made Perry history by winning regionals, placing third in the state, and winning the state academic title. I remember getting chills seeing and hearing all of our fans in the crowd that made the drive to Tulsa to support us at state. It was very rewarding to know that all of our hard work paid off and we made our community proud.

VYPE: Are you involved in any other activities?

Rames: I’m involved in Student Council and National Honor Society.

VYPE: What is your all-time favorite meal?

Rames: My all time favorite meal would definitely be steak with a baked potato.

VYPE: You can pick any place for a summer vacation, where do you go and who do you take with you?

Rames: If I could vacation anywhere, I would want to go to Maui, Hawaii. I would want to bring all of my family, my friends, and my dog.
