Perry’s Gunnar Farrar – Presented by Seth Wadley Ford

Perry High School sophomore Gunnar Farrar plays football and runs track for the Perry High School Maroons. In football, Gunnar plays an important part in the team’s success, playing both the position of quarterback and defensive back for the Maroons. Gunnar has been playing football for 4 years, and has been running track for 1 year.

Asked what it means to represent his school and community, Gunnar explained, “It means a lot to me. I just always try to win and help out the team as much as I can.”

As far as someone at school that left a lasting impression on Gunnar, he did not hesitate. Gunnar explained, “Ladd Rupp stands out to me the most. He is a great mentor and leader, and someone I will always look up to.”

For Gunnar there is a special person that he looks up to as his role model. Gunnar stated, “That person is my dad, I always appreciate him giving me advice; he is someone to strive to be like.” 

In regards to what it has taken Gunnar to be successful in sports, Gunnar accounted, “It takes a great deal of dedication. Showing up and putting in the work results in great things.”

An abundant number of memories are made in high school sports. For Gunnar, one moment in particular stands out. Gunnar explained, “That moment was in football, when we beat Chisholm during the final minutes of the game. The feeling after achieving that that was simply awesome.”

Many student athletes have a collegiate or professional athlete that they look up to. For Gunnar, that athlete is former NFL quarterback, Peyton Manning. Gunnar stated, “Peyton’s knowledge and skill for the game was amazing.”

Besides playing football, and running track, Gunnar is involved with other activities at Perry High School. He is a member of both Student Council, as well as being a part of the Gifted and Talented program.

After graduating from high school, Gunnar plans on attending college.
