For Grant Rowe, wrestling is more than just a sport, it’s a family tradition, a test of discipline, and a way to make Blackwell proud. As a senior at Blackwell High School, Grant has spent years on the mat, honing every move, every takedown, every escape. His motivation is simple but powerful: winning.
“Winning motivates me,” Grant says, his voice steady but full of determination.
He credits much of his success to the people around him. “My dad and coaches are my biggest role models,” he explains. Their guidance, both on and off the mat, has shaped his approach to wrestling and life. That mentorship carries into the classroom too, where Mr. Muret has earned the title of Grant’s favorite teacher. “He keeps me in line,” Grant adds with a grin.
Consistency and hard work define his philosophy. For him, success doesn’t come from talent alone. “Hard work and consistency are what it takes to be successful,” he says. That mindset has paid off in remarkable ways. Winning his second state title and securing his third team title stand out as the highlights of his wrestling career, moments that blend pride, relief, and joy into one unforgettable feeling.
Competition fuels him, and some rivals stand out. He especially enjoys besting Tuttle, Marlow, and Salina, teams he considers the ultimate tests of skill and strategy. Practice brings its own form of thrill, and his favorite sparring partner is none other than Coach Cline. “I enjoy whooping up on Coach Cline the most in practice,” Grant admits, chuckling at the memory.
Yet beyond the victories and the rivalries, representing Blackwell is what matters most. “Representing our town and community during wrestling is one of the greatest things. There is like nothing like it,” he says. The pride of wearing his school colors, competing for something bigger than himself, and leaving it all on the mat is what defines Grant, not just as a wrestler, but as a young man shaped by dedication, mentorship, and heart.
