Ponca City’s Jennifer Schaefer – Mom of the Month – Presented by The Ponca City Real Estate Co

Jennifer Schaefer’s life runs on a carefully coordinated rhythm, part hospital shifts, part practice schedules, part quiet prayers whispered from the sidelines. In Ponca City, she’s known as many things: a nurse at Integris Health, a church supporter, a painter, and a baker. But most days, she’s simply “Mom,” balancing two athletes whose passions have shaped the entire family’s world.

It started when Melanie was five, chasing a soccer ball with a natural confidence that made everything click. Jennifer remembers watching her, realizing this wasn’t just a phase, it was the beginning of something bigger. Years later, Melanie now competes at Ponca City High School, in the Oklahoma Development Program, and for Stillwater Apex, while also playing violin in the symphony. Her younger sister, Bethanie, has followed her own path, juggling junior high basketball, tennis, and viola.

Their days are full, sometimes overwhelmingly so. A shared family calendar dictates everything. Nights are spent reviewing the next day’s plan, and mornings begin with quick checklists: uniforms, snacks, instruments, gear. Jennifer has learned to expect the unexpected, always knowing where the nearest store is in case something gets left behind.

Through it all, she still shows up to her job as a nurse, caring for patients across different stages of life. That work, she says, keeps her grounded. It reminds her that growth happens in every season, even the busiest ones.

There are moments when schedules collide, and stress builds, but Jennifer and her husband rely on teamwork. They divide and conquer, making sure each daughter feels seen and supported. It’s not perfect, but it’s intentional.

From the stands, Jennifer’s thoughts race, hoping her girls feel prepared, confident, and proud of their effort. She cheers loudly, but she also knows when silence matters more, offering quiet reassurance after tough games.

What makes her proud isn’t the scoreboard. It’s the dedication, the teamwork, the love her daughters have for what they do. To Jennifer, being a sports mom isn’t about wins or losses, it’s about showing up, again and again, with unwavering support.

Because long after the final whistle, what matters most is that they know they were never alone.
