OUTLOOK

Following a challenging 2–22 season, the Luther Lady Lions enter the new year with a renewed sense of purpose under head coach Julia Mason, who is focused on developing a foundation built on effort, discipline, and growth. With a blend of returning upperclassmen and promising newcomers, the Lady Lions are poised to take meaningful steps forward as they continue to build the program’s culture and competitiveness.

“Coming off a challenging 2–22 season, the Luther Lady Lions enter this year with renewed energy and a sense of purpose,” said Mason. “With the addition of key upperclassmen leadership and a promising group of talented freshmen, the team is focused on growth, development, and building a strong foundation for the future.”

Mason and her staff have emphasized fundamentals and consistency throughout the offseason. “A new coaching staff brings fresh perspective and direction, emphasizing fundamentals, teamwork, and a competitive mindset,” Mason said. “While this season will be a learning and growing experience, the program’s upside is undeniable. The Lady Lions are determined to take positive steps forward and establish a culture of accountability, effort, and pride in representing Luther High School.”

Leading the charge for Luther is junior Blakely Bounds (5-9, G/F), is a versatile playmaker. “Blakely is an oversized guard at 5-9 with an impressive all-around skill set,” said Mason. “Her combination of size and ball-handling ability allows her to both initiate the offense and play effectively in the post. Blakely is expected to step into a larger role this season, serving as one of the team’s key contributors on both ends of the floor.”

Another key contributor is freshman point guard Tinsley Wiley (5-6). “As a freshman, Tinsley will be stepping into a key role this season at the point guard position,” Mason said. “She brings solid ball-handling skills, good court vision, and the ability to stretch defenses with her three-point shooting.”

Rounding out the roster are Anna Tytenicz (Sr.), Paeton Heron (Jr.), Zoe Vega (So.), Allison Wilds (So.), Makayla Richardson (So.), Brooke and Peyton Wilkins (Jrs.), Marlee McNair (Fr.), Zoey Raines (Fr.), Hailey Mayen (So.), Ava Roberson (Fr.), Dilynn Barnett (Fr.), and Alli Bales (Fr.) — each expected to play a role in the team’s development.
