VYPE: What grade are you in, and what sports do you play?
Gaby: I am a junior at Ponca City High School. I run track and cross country.
VYPE: What accomplishment or memory are you most proud of?
Gaby: An accomplishment I am most proud of is making it to state in my sophomore year. A memory I am most proud of is when I medaled for the first time in the eighth-grade.
VYPE: Who inspires you?
Gaby: I’m inspired by the challenge of relying on myself. In running, my success depends on my dedication. How hard i work directly impacts my performanc, and that drives me to keep improving.
VYPE: What teammate has left the biggest impression on you?
Gaby: A teammate who has left me with the biggest inspiration would have to be Jaycee Davis. From when I was in elementary school, walking home I could see her running in the park. I watched her make state, and push me to be better than I thought I would ever be, supporting me and cheering me on, even when she doesn’t feel the best.
VYPE: Who is your favorite teacher from any grade?
Gaby: I personally do not have a favorite teacher. I have loved every one of my teachers in their own way.
VYPE: What is your favorite part about representing your high school as an athlete?
Gaby: My favorite part about representing my high school is that when I wear Ponca City’s jersey, everything I do is for myself and the image of Ponca City motivates me to do my best in everything that I do.
VYPE: What has your sport taught you that makes you a better person?
Gaby: Something that my sport has taught me is self-discipline, work ethic, and always showing up.
VYPE: Are you involved in any other activities?
Gaby: Along side track and cross country, I also play in the PoHi symphony orchestra, playing the viola.
VYPE: Here is your chance to give a shoutout or say thank you to anyone you wish.
Gaby: I want to say thank you to my mom and dad for always providing me with anything that I’ve ever needed. Whether it’s the bare minimum or exceeding expectations, they always come through and never leave me empty-handed or hopeless.
VYPE: What is your all-time favorite meal?
Gaby: My all-time favorite meal is buldak ramen.
