VYPE Athlete Spotlight: Kayden Harjo – Kellyville High School
 By Olivia Jones

As a sophomore, Kayden Harjo is already a name to watch at Kellyville High School. A dedicated two-sport athlete, Kayden competes in football and baseball, bringing intensity, confidence, and heart to every game he plays.

On the diamond, he fills key roles as a shortstop, pitcher, and catcher. On the football field, he takes on the physical challenge of strong safety and running back. No matter the sport, Kayden’s motivation stays the same: his people. “Everything I do is for them,” he said. “They push me to be better.”

Kayden looks up to Cody Bellinger, admiring the MLB star’s smooth, consistent performance. “Everything Bellinger does looks effortless. That’s how I want to be—reliable and calm under pressure.”

One of the most influential figures in Kayden’s athletic journey is Coach Ken, who helped him shift his perspective on physical stature. “He showed me that being small isn’t a weakness,” Kayden said. “That meant a lot.”

His path to success hasn’t been easy. “It took countless hours of practice and fighting off the doubt in my mind,” he said. “There were times I wondered if I’d ever be great at what I do.”

A major career milestone came when Kayden played varsity as a freshman. It was the moment that proved all the hard work was paying off. “I just love to win,” he added. “That’s why I enjoy beating every team we play.”

Kayden thrives on competition, especially with teammate Cruz Pitser. “We compete in everything we do—sprints, drills, everything. He pushes me.”

When asked who’s the most underappreciated player on the team, Kayden didn’t name anyone. “No one,” he said confidently, a testament to the respect and recognition his teammates have earned.

While Kayden isn’t currently involved in any school clubs, he follows Max Clark on social media, admiring his skill and work ethic. “He’s great at what he does.”

His pregame hype song is “Enter Sandman” by Metallica, and he models his football mentality after Brian Dawkins, known for his fierce intensity and leadership.

With dreams of playing for OU or Tennessee, Kayden is ready to keep grinding. And if football ever took a backseat? “I’d still be playing baseball.” This young man is someone who is a great watch on the field.
