With the 2024 softball season well underway, the Shidler Lady Tigers are off to a solid start. And their head coach, Katie Ehrlich, is looking forward to seeing what her squad will do the rest of the season.
“So far this year we have played well with a couple good wins against ranked teams,” she said. “My girls are playing really well together and they go out on the field each time playing for each other and fighting for their teammates. I expect a good showing out of my girls at our next two tournaments and I believe we will only get stronger as the season goes.”
While the season has been good so far, it has not come without its share of challenges for the team.
“It has been a somewhat challenging beginning of the season moving girls around in the field after graduating five seniors last year,” the coach said. “We’ve also been battling injuries and sickness but the girls are handling it well.”
The Lady Tigers are led by four outstanding seniors that make an impact anytime they step on the field.
“Senior Abbi Godfrey is having a great season in the circle and leading the team in batting average as well as being a great leader and teammate,” Ehrlich said. “Senior Kaley Floyd has learned a new position this year to help her team and will do any job that is asked of her. Senior Presley Perrier is another girl that will take on any job we ask her to do and has stepped up to take some innings in the circle. Senior outfielder Whitley Miller is also having a great defensive year.”
While these four are the leaders of the team, they know that they cannot do it alone. The other members of the team that make big contributions to the team’s success are Jamie Holder, Emily Cottle , Lillie Garrison, Jenna Benson , Lydia Gullic , Keilee Morrison, and Lena Hampton.
Overall, coach Ehrlich is proud of her team and the chemistry they have.
“These girls are great leaders on and off the field and they are such a fun group to be around,”
