Blackwell’s Tim Mitchell – Football Spotlight – Presented by AirMedCare Network

Throughout our lives, there are people that have an impact on us. This could be for just a short season of time, or it could be someone that is part of our entire life. Tim Mitchell says that the person that has had the biggest influence on his life is someone that is part of his everyday life.

“My dad was a successful high school football player, so he is my most influential role model,” he said.

Tim is a sophomore at Blackwell High School, where he is a member of the football and track teams. As an athlete, he says that it takes a lot in order to be successful.

“You have to be willing to give up vast amounts of your time,” he said. “You have to keep getting better.”

While the work is important, Tim says that his teammates have also played a role in helping him become the athlete that he is.

“One of the teammates I like working with the most is Stoney Hutson,” he said. “He offers a challenge that I enjoy a lot due to his strength. Alonso Palma is the most under-appreciated player on my team. He gives all that he can but due to an injury last season, he was unable to play but he has put in all he has this summer and offseason.”

On game day, when he puts on the Blackwell uniform, Mitchell knows that he is competing for more than just himself.

“I want to represent my school the best I can and shine the most positive light possible on my community when I play,” he said. “I am striving to be the best possible version of myself that I can be.”

In the classroom, Tim has had the opportunity to learn from a number of outstanding teachers. But he has one teacher that stands out as his favorite.

“My Spanish teacher, Sherri Swafford, has pushed me to be the best student I can,” he stated. “She has impacted me the most out of any teacher I’ve had.”
