Ponca City Wildcats Volleyball Preview – Presented by Cherokee Strip Credit Union

This fall could see an improved Ponca City volleyball team. The Wildcats bring back abundant talent and experience. “Our 2024 season will be full of experienced players,” Wildcats head coach Jennie Hinterreiter said. “We have talented hitters that can hit anywhere along the net. Be looking for dynamic offensive combinations fueled by aggressive defenders.” Ponca returns five key seniors, Allison Edwards (Sr., MB), Kira Denoya (Sr., S), Natalie Mayer (Sr., OH/OPP), Jaycie York (Sr., DS) and Tallie Boyer (Sr., DS); and four juniors, Allison Duncan (Jr., MB), Darcy Hinterreiter (Jr., OH/OPP), Logan Hafen (Jr., DS) and Maci Strong (Jr., OH). “Maci’s combination of work ethic and high game IQ make her a force to be reckoned with,” Hinterreiter said. “She leads the team by example and holds it together in times of adversity. She wants to further her career and play in college. I have no doubt Maci will achieve this. She is an excellent athlete, teammate, and student.” Edwards will be a “critical piece of the offense,” Hinterreiter said. “Our pin hitters have great opportunities because Allison is such a threat in the middle. The games we can establish our middle, we win. Period. And it’s because of Allison making herself an option every time the ball is up.” Hinterreiter is particularly excited about newcomer Emerie Morrison (Fr.). “Emerie has a sharp eye for the game and has a lot of athleticism. One of those players that can do it all,” Hinterreiter said. “It will be exciting to see where she shines the brightest this year.”
