Perry’s Peyton Reaves – Presented By Stillwater Medical Perry

Peyton Reaves is a multi-sport athlete at Perry High School. She cheers, wrestles, and plays golf for the Maroons. Throughout her career, she has worked hard in order to be at her best when she competes. And that work has allowed her to experience some memorable moments.

“To be a successful athlete, I have given my all and have done my absolute best no matter what. To push myself when I’m tired and tell myself not to do it for me, but for my team. You get better when you work hard while you are exhausted. My highlight in cheer would be getting runner-up at Regionals and Academic State Champs at state. In wrestling, it would be getting second place at the Bring the Hammer tournament in Cabot, Arkansas.”

Reaves, a junior, is also involved in a number of clubs outside of her athletics, including Gifted and Talented, the National Honor Society, FCCLA, an officer in Student Council, and Class Reporter.

Throughout her life, Peyton has had people who have influenced her and helped her become who she is today.

“My parents and my coaches are my role models,” she said. “They are always pushing me to do my best and do everything at 110%. They tell me I can do anything, and especially if I work hard enough at it. Mrs. Matthiesen is a teacher who has been impactful because I can talk to her about anything. She always encourages me when I feel like I can’t do something, and she makes sure I know that she believes in me.”

Whether it is athletics, school work, or just life, there are times when the stress of life can feel like too much. When those times come around, Peyton has something that she holds on to.

“If you get overwhelmed or stressed, just remember to breathe, trust in God, and know everything will work out in the end. And if it’s not working out, it’s not the end,” she said.
