LUTHER LIONS

Coach: LEVI LUNSFORD

5-6

Offense

The Luther Lions enter the 2025 season with renewed confidence and a strong returning cast on both sides of the ball. After a 5-6 finish last year, Head Coach Levi Lunsford is looking to build off the foundation laid in 2024. With experience in the trenches, productive playmakers, and a tough, seasoned defense, Luther is poised to make noise this fall. Luther’s offense will lean on a tough, physical offensive line led by returning starters Kale Winters (6-6, 250, Jr.) and Royce Fife (5-7, 200, Sr.). Their presence up front will be key to the success of the Lions’ ground game and pass protection. In the backfield, Maurtice Wright (6-1, 245, Jr.) returns after rushing for 353 yards and four touchdowns on 66 carries. His powerful running style and field vision will be complemented by Tucker Jones(5-9, 165, Sr.), who added 99 rushing yards and two touchdowns last season. Together, they form a backfield capable of controlling the tempo and keeping defenses honest.

At the skill positions, tight end Gerardo Reyes (5-11, 200, Jr.) adds a strong blocking presence and red zone target, while wide receiver Auston Wilson (5-10, 165, Jr.) is a big-play threat who averaged over 20 yards per reception last year. Both players are expected to play even larger roles in the offensive scheme this season.

Defense

Defensively, the Lions bring back an aggressive, experienced group led by defensive back Bo Browning (6-0, 160, Jr.), who tallied 71 tackles, five tackles for loss, and two sacks last season. His speed and instincts make him a leader in the secondary. Wright continues to shine on both sides of the ball, contributing 63 tackles, four tackles for loss, two sacks, and an interception at linebacker. Reyes is a disruptive force in the front seven with six sacks, while Wilson brings versatility with 59 tackles and two interceptions. Jones adds solid support in the secondary with 43 tackles and an interception. With leadership and depth across all levels of the defense, the Lions have the tools to compete every week and take a big step forward in 2025.
