Kellyville’s Melissa Archer – Teacher Spotlight – Presented by Candyland Childcare Center

Entering her 20th year as an educator, Melissa (Missy) Archer loves her job as much as she did on day one. She says that as much as she loves her job, being able to be in the same place as her family is a bonus.

“I’ve always loved working with children, and teaching has been the perfect job for me as a mom,” she said. “I feel incredibly blessed to have worked at the same school my children have attended throughout their school careers, to work at the same place as my husband, and to serve in the community we live in. I want to make a positive impact on children and help them realize their full potential.”

Missy teaches Pre-K at Kellyville Public Schools. She also serves as the Social Media Manager, assists with coaching the cross country, track, and academic teams as a ‘team mom’, and she helps out with the booster clubs.

As a teacher, Archer enjoys being able to influence her students, the same way that some of her teachers did for her.

“I love making a positive impact on young lives and watching children grow and learn new things,” she said. “I had a few teachers who impacted me when I was a student. Mr. Moguin, who taught Chemistry I and II and Physics, and Mrs. Chambers, who was my first-grade teacher, both made learning fun, and they truly cared about me as a student.”

She and her husband, Dale, have been married for almost 29 years. He is the IT Director and Advanced Computer teacher at Kellyville. They have two children: Summer, who teaches kindergarten at Kellyville, and Paten, who is currently a senior at Kellyville. Along with his other duties, Dal is a storm tracker for Channel 6. When she is not in the classroom, Missy has a number of other things she enjoys doing.

“I enjoy spending time with family, working at church camp, volunteering at Vacation Bible School, attending Southern Gospel concerts, and participating in church activities. I also love supporting my kids in their activities,” she said.
