Cushing’s Mom of the Month Mary Kessler – Presented by Pipeline Urgent Care

Mary Kessler’s life revolves around family, sports, and supporting her daughters’ growth both on and off the field. She is the proud mother of two active athletes: Faith, a senior at Cushing High School who plays softball, basketball, and powerlifts, and Riley, a seventh grader at Cushing Middle School involved in softball and basketball.

While her daughters’ schedules are packed with practices, games, and schoolwork, Mary manages an equally demanding life of her own. She oversees three short-term rental properties and is currently restoring historic Cushing homes, work that requires significant time and attention. Yet, when rare free moments do appear, she enjoys taking trips as a way to recharge.

Supporting her children’s athletic pursuits remains a top priority. “I stay involved by showing up and cheering them on,” Mary says. “I also try to get them into local camps that can help them develop the skills they need to succeed.” Her approach combines encouragement from the stands with opportunities for her daughters to challenge themselves and improve.

The journey hasn’t been without difficulties. “Watching my child deal with injuries has been the toughest part,” she admits. “Faith recently tore her ACL and will unfortunately miss most of her senior year.” Despite the setback, Mary remains focused on helping Faith maintain a positive outlook while encouraging Riley to continue working hard.

She also believes in teaching her daughters to manage their own responsibilities: “Knowing their priorities helps them manage their time effectively, achieve their goals, and build independence.”

Community involvement plays a role, too. Mary is a member of the Cushing High School softball booster club, volunteering in concessions and supporting team needs.

Though she grew up just 30 miles south of Chicago, Mary has fully embraced life in Cushing. “I love the small-town feel, the tight-knit community, the slower pace of life, and the school spirit here,” she says.

From raising two athletes to restoring homes and contributing to the community, Mary Kessler’s days are full. Yet she continues to show that with dedication, balance, and a strong sense of purpose, it’s possible to support your kids’ dreams while pursuing your own.
