CUSHING TIGERS
Coach: RUSTY MORGAN
7-4

Offense
The Cushing Tigers return to the field with solid momentum after a 7-4 season in Class 4A-3. Head Coach Rusty Morgan is confident in his team’s blend of experience and youthful energy, expecting a competitive and resilient squad in 2025. With depth at key positions and a commitment to developing leadership through summer and fall camps, the Tigers aim to build on last year’s success and make a strong playoff push. The offense will be led by senior quarterback Roman Tucker (6-2, 175, Sr.), a dynamic dual-threat athlete who commands the field on both sides of the ball. Last season, Tucker completed 159 of 237 passes for 2,460 yards and 26 touchdowns. On the ground, he added 654 rushing yards and 12 touchdowns on 105 carries. His ability to make plays with his arm and legs, combined with his durability and leadership, makes him one of the top quarterbacks in the state. Running back Kellen Fry (6-0, 200, Sr.) is another cornerstone of the offense. He rushed for 618 yards on 118 carries and added 146 receiving yards with 12 receptions, scoring once through the air. Fry’s physicality and quickness allow him to be a consistent threat between the tackles and out in space. The Tigers’ receiving corps includes Lane Simpson (6-0, 170, So.) and Jordan Kersey (6-0, 175, Sr.), with Simpson emerging late last season as a game-changing playmaker thanks to his explosiveness and athleticism. The offensive line, anchored by Max Hoover (6-0, 250, Jr.) and Logan Ford (5-11, 205, Jr.), will provide the protection and run blocking necessary to keep the offense balanced and efficient.
Defense
On defense, the Tigers rely heavily on linebacker Kellen Fry, who is arguably the best linebacker in Class 4A. Fry made 154 tackles last season, including 24 for loss and 10 sacks. His ability to disrupt plays at or behind the line of scrimmage, coupled with his coverage skills, makes him the leader of the defense. Safety and quarterback Roman Tucker also plays a key role defensively, tallying 81 tackles and 4 interceptions while continuing to provide energy and leadership.
Defensive end Justice Elliott (6-2, 200, Jr.), defensive tackle Max Hoover, defensive back Lane Simpson, and linebacker Cole Cooper (6-1, 185, Sr.) round out a solid defensive core. Together, they will focus on physicality, discipline, and creating turnovers to fuel the Tigers’ success on both sides of the ball.
