Chandler’s Grant McGinnis
A senior at Chandler High School, Grant McGinnis plays football and basketball for the Lions. Grant’s school spirit runs deep since he has a special connection to the athletic tradition at CHS.
“It means the world to me to be able to represent Chandler High School and be able to wear the same jersey and play on the same field as my hero [and now coach], AJ Woodall,” he said. “He’s been my hero and role model for as long as I can remember and has sacrificed so much of his own life towards me and my brothers for football and basketball.”
Speaking of family, McGinnis credits his brothers as well for pushing him to become better in competition and in life.
“My two older brothers have never taken it easy on me and showed me what it takes to be successful in just about every aspect of life,” he said.
Thinking back over the years as a Lion, McGinnis doesn’t recall a favorite moment on the field or court, rather he has appreciated the teammates he’s had.
“Just to be able to spend this past summer with my new teammates and get as close as possible with them and form a strong brotherhood with the guys I’ll be going to war with,” he said of his favorite memory.
McGinnis knows that lots of hard work and dedication is key in sports, school, and life. To sum it up, he recalls a quote that would motivate just about anyone – “From my very own mother: ‘Shut up and work!’”
VYPE wishes good luck to McGinnis in his senior seasons and onward after graduation.
