JONES LADY LONGHORNS
COACH: Carson Mathews
Record: 17-11
OUTLOOK
After finishing 17-11 a year ago, the Jones Lady Longhorns enter the 2025-26 season with momentum, leadership, and a roster full of talent that has completely bought into head coach Carson Mathews’ vision. “I’m excited about our team this year — everyone is bought in!” Mathews said. “Our two seniors, Kitelyn Higgins and Jentry Holbrook, bring an incredible amount of leadership and work ethic.”
The veteran duo anchors a lineup built around unselfish play and defensive toughness. Higgins (5-11, Sr., F) gives Jones a strong interior presence and rebounding edge, while Holbrook (5-9, Sr., G) provides steady production and a team-first mentality. “Jentry is our do-it-all kid,” said Mathews. “She’s constantly doing the little things to make others around her better. She’ll drive younger kids around, fill up water bottles, help others run plays — she just wants the team to be successful.”
Katrina Johnson (5-8, Jr., G/F) headlines a strong junior class. “Katrina is tough-nosed and physical,” said Mathews. “She can play inside and outside and is getting looks from NAIA and JUCO programs.” Fellow junior Aleah Hankins (5-7, G) brings energy and positivity both on and off the court. “Aleah is the definition of a character kid,” Mathews said. “She has an infectious personality and smile that lights up a room. She’s always doing the right thing, even when others aren’t looking.”
Mathews also expects big things from Kaylee Long (5-7, So., G) as she steps into a new role. “Kaylee is due up for a big year,” said Mathews. “She’s stepping into the point guard role and looks to take command of our offense — I’m excited to see her shine.”
Adding depth and versatility are Emma Sanders (5-6, Jr., G), Emma Gibson (5-8, Jr., F), Peyton Higgins (5-11, So., F), and Kylee Manwell (5-6, So., G), along with a promising freshman class of Karia Hansen (5-4, G), JJ Harless (5-9, F), Eva Smith (5-6, G), Callie Messec (5-7, G), and Sydnee Manwell (5-6, G).
With strong senior leadership, rising stars, and complete team buy-in, Mathews believes this group has what it takes to make noise this winter.
