2025 Bristow High School – Cheer Preview – Presented by Bristow Pirate Car Wash & Storage

Team chemistry is a crucial aspect of any athletic team, but it is especially vital for cheer teams. Not only do they compete in their own competitions, but they also help spread school spirit and keep the fans cheering during football and basketball games. Quila Cole is the head coach of the Bristow varsity cheer team. She says that her team does a great job of working together.

“The team’s biggest strength is our bond,” Cole said. “They don’t let outside problems affect the team. They are very goal-driven and hold each other accountable. I’d say their competitive edge is also a strength. They aren’t afraid of hard work and know what it takes to be a top 4A team in Oklahoma.”

Cole is in her sixth season of coaching cheer at Bristow. She spent one year coaching middle school cheer and has coached the varsity team for five years. Over the past few years, the Lady Pirated have earned their share of awards, including the 2023 OSSAA Class 4A Performance State Runner Up, 2024 OSSAA Class 4A Performance State Runner Up, and the 2025 Class 4A and below STUNT Games State Runner Up.

Senior and team captain Delaney Turnbull enjoys cheering alongside her teammates and the relationships she has built.
“I enjoy representing our school and bringing energy to the sidelines,” she said. “It’s special to be a part of the spirit and tradition that makes our community so proud. The best part about our team is the bond we share. We celebrate the small things, push through the hard things, and always remember that it’s bigger than ourselves every time we put on our uniforms.”

Fellow senior Ashlyn Turnbull also enjoys being a part of the team and working with the fans.

“I enjoy being able to hype up the crowd during games,” Ashlyn stated. “I also enjoy being able to represent my school by being a cheerleader. I love how close our team gets each year. It is a bond that you don’t get anywhere else. We trust each other to the fullest.”
