CLEVELAND TIGERS
Coach: Daniel Brimmer
23-24 Record: 5-18
The Cleveland Tigers are looking to build a strong foundation this year with many younger players, but some are returning to the court with some valuable minutes from previous games. “The Tigers will be young but still have some experience,” says head coach Daniel Brimmer. One of the main contributors this season will be Darren Felmlee, who averaged eight points per game last year. He is only a sophomore but has a chance to be a special player. “Returning starter Darren Felmlee had an outstanding freshman season. He scores the ball in a variety of ways,” said coach Brimmer. “Darren is a guard that has a knack for finishing everything around the rim.” Senior James O’Daniel brings lots of energy to the court is is a good defender. Two juniors who made huge strides over the summer are center Tyler Kelsey and forward
Leonardo Higgins. Last season Kelsey averaged three points and five rebounds per game, while Higgins averaged two points and three rebounds per game. They are expected to be a focal point of the offense with Felmlee. As demonstrated over the summer, freshman Trey Southward has a chance to play a huge role for the Tigers this season. Coming from a family of athletes, Southward has a knack for shooting the ball. Coach Brimmer says he is a “great kid on and off the court” who has that “it” factor. Other players expected to make an impact on this year’s team are junior Jakob Brooks, sophomores Dawson Kelcey and Ace Braswell, and freshman Tony Smith.
