CLEVELAND LADY TIGERS
Coach: Michael Arnold
23-24 Record: 8-17
The Lady Tigers of Cleveland High are playing the long game, as they build their program up with young but able athletes. “Our team is very young,” said head coach Michael Arnold. “We have no seniors. We will be a force to reckon with in the very near future. We have a lot of size and speed. The future is very bright for us.” The team will be led in part by sophomore Tycee Downey, a 5’11 guard who can play everywhere with a ton of athleticism. She returns to the court after starting as freshman last year and is a VYPE Top 100 nominee. Stevie Gabriel is another sophomore who has a lot of potential. “Stevie is a hardworking
guard with tremendous speed,” said coach Arnold. “She is getting better every day.” Forward Payge Schaefer is the unsung hero of the team, the type to do all the dirty work and the things that don’t show up on the stat sheet. One underclassman to watch in the coming seasons is Marin Chapman, a freshman guard who coach Arnold says “can flat out shoot the basketball” and has a high basketball IQ already. Freshman guard Rae Sanders is a “do it all” kind of player who has a lot of natural talent and athleticism. Other players who will contribute are Emmy Southward, Faith Watts, Gabby Smith, Bessie Sellars, Kelainey Hanna, Kamdyn Harrold, Hannah Huffman, and Abigail Brzazowski.
