Stillwater’s Nikki Pitts – Q & A – Presented by Larry Gosney – State Farm

VYPE: What grade are you in and what sports do you play?

Nikki: I am a junior at Stillwater High School, where I play golf.

VYPE: What accomplishment are you most proud of?

Nikki: That would be winning state in my sophomore year at Stillwater Country Club. All my teammates are my best friends, and we worked so hard for that Championship. Most recently, my favorite memory was shooting four-under at Earlywine and winning my first individual high school golf tournament.

VYPE: What teammate has left the biggest impression on you?

Nikki: All of my teammates are genuinely my best friends. I’m so lucky to have such a strong support system behind me and people that I will be friends with forever.

VYPE: What has your sport taught you that makes you a better person?

Nikki: My sport has taught me patience and perseverance. Golf is a sport that’s very different than others and requires patience. It’s easy to want to give up while playing, but that just can’t happen; you have to persevere through the bad shots.

VYPE: What is your favorite part about representing your high school as an athlete?

Nikki: It means a lot, so many people put so much effort and time into this golf program. I’m really grateful to have them. Especially the women’s golf association at Stillwater Country Club, they help us out so much, and all of them are super excited for us, even if we win or lose. Getting to play for them is so special.

VYPE: Who inspires you?

Nikki: Most definitely, my Grammy. She coached at OSU for 24 years and fought for the right that gives girls the opportunity to play golf. She is able to teach me so much about our sport and gives me insight into it that most people really don’t get.

VYPE: Are you involved in any other clubs or groups?

Nikki: I’m involved in Beta Club and Stillwater Makes a Change, where I am an executive officer in both. I’m also involved in my local Klife chapter which is the biggest blessing, having a community that pushes me to Jesus is so special.

VYPE: What is your all-time favorite meal?

Nikki: Chicken Alfredo

VYPE: Here is your chance to give a shoutout or say thank you to anyone you wish.

Nikki: I want to give a shout-out to my mom and dad. They are awesome and my biggest supporters.
