Stillwater’s Megan Kolone – Parent Spotlight – Presented by Larry Gosney- State Farm Agent

For Megan Kolone, life is full, busy, and incredibly rewarding. As the proud mom of five children, she finds her greatest joy in watching them grow in their faith, their academics, and their athletic pursuits.

Her oldest, Nehemiah, is a senior at Stillwater High School and a standout on the football field. A defensive end and fullback, he has committed to play football at BYU and will graduate early to begin his college journey in Provo this January. Michelle, a sophomore, is a multi-sport athlete who shines in basketball, track, and especially softball, where she plays catcher and third base. Rocky, a freshman, is a football player through and through, mainly a linebacker but also contributing at defensive end and fullback. The younger two, Malina (4th grade) and Jonah (kindergarten), are just beginning their athletic journeys, currently enjoying softball and flag football.

Megan feels blessed to stay at home thanks to the hard work of her husband, Chris. She also works part-time, remotely managing the office for Butler Building and Engineering. When she isn’t driving to practices, games, or tournaments, she treasures time at home with her family. “The older they get, the busier they are, and spending quality time as a family is what brings me the most joy,” she says.

Her role in her children’s athletic careers is rooted in love and support. She ensures they have the tools, training, and encouragement they need while also reminding them of a deeper truth: their identity is not found in sports, but in Christ. “It’s very important to me that my kids understand they are more than their sport,” Megan explains.

The toughest part, she admits, is feeling stretched thin and unable to volunteer as much as she would like. Still, she considers it a blessing to watch her children compete and grow. Priorities are key in her household, academics, faith, and balance all come first.

Beyond athletics, Megan serves her church by mentoring young girls ages 7–10, helping them strengthen their relationship with Christ. And when it comes to community, she couldn’t be prouder to raise her family in Stillwater. “It means something to be a Pioneer,” she says. “I’m very proud to be one.”
