Stillwaters Madeline Thomas – Softball Spotlight – Presented by BancFirst Stillwater

Stillwater High School senior Madeline Thomas is passionate about playing softball for the Stillwater High School Lady Pioneers. Madeline plays the positions of shortstop, 3rd base, and outfield for softball. Many would consider Madeline a sports veteran, having played softball for 14 years.

Madeline is proud to represent her school and community as a student athlete. Madeline proclaimed, “It is very important to me to do good for the people who support me because without them, I would not have the opportunity to play the game I love so much.”

Rivalries are common in sports, and for Madeline, her biggest softball rival is Norman North High School. 

In terms of her role models or biggest influences, Madeline looks to 3 different sources. Madeline attested, “My biggest role models are Coach Linsenmeyer, Coach Afton, and my dad. They push me to do my absolute best.”

During the course of a student athletes academics, there is often a teacher that has left a lasting impression on them. Madeline reflected, “Mrs Mcfaul is a teacher that left a lasting impression on me. She encouraged me, and was by my side when I was going through a rough mental block.”

As far as what it has taken for Madeline to become successful in softball, Madeline stated, “It has taken putting in an extra amount of effort after practices and games.”

In regards to what motivates Madeline, she stated, “What motivates me is being the best version of myself.”

Many memories are made during a student athlete’s career. For Madeline, one particular moment stood out. Madeline recalled, “That moment happened when I hit the walk off to secure our 12-run comeback against Broken Arrow in regional playoffs.”

Besides playing softball for the Lady Pioneers, Madeline is am involved in Unified Peers and volunteers at the animal shelter in Stillwater.

After graduating from Stillwater High School, Madeline plans on pursuing higher education and continuing to play sports. Madeline stated, “I plan to go to college for softball, and obtain a business degree.”
