Stillwater High School junior Kyle Stokes is a multisport athlete, playing football and running track for the Stillwater High School Pioneers. For football, Kyle plays the positions of both linebacker and running back. Many would consider Kyle a sports veteran, having played football for 6 years, and has run track for 5 years.
Kyle is proud to represent both his school and community, as a student athlete. Kyle proclaimed, “It means so much to me representing Stillwater. Everything I do in sports, or outside of sports represents Stillwater, so that encourages me to be the best version of myself.”
When it comes to a teacher that has made a lasting impact on Kyle, he stated, “I have had a lot of great teachers, but if i had to pick one, I would choose my 10th grade English teacher, Mrs. Barney. Every day when I walked in the classroom she was always in a good mood and I was always excited for her class. She ignited my love for reading and showed me that you can have fun but also learn in the classroom.”
As far as what it has taken Kyle to become successful in sports, Kyle accounted, “To be successful in my sports has taken a lot. Hard work and determination for sure. To be successful in anything you have to put your mind to it and stay focused. I would also say trusting in the Lord has helped me through sports. Just knowing that God has great plans for me helps take the stress off and helps me realize that no matter the outcome I still have a plan.”
Many memories are made during a student athlete’s sporting career. Kyle recalled a moment that stood out, “My highlight moment was scoring a 65-yard rushing touchdown against Muskogee, in the semifinals my sophomore season.”
After graduating from high school, Kyle plans on pursuing higher education. Kyle stated, “After high school, I plan on going to college, but I am not completely sure on what I want to study. My dream school to attend would be the University of Arkansas.”
