For Jennifer Nealis, education is rooted in relationships, purpose, and the belief that every student deserves to feel seen and valued. Now in her fifth year as an educator and fourth at Stillwater High School, Nealis teaches CareerTech Business Education and Technology courses, including Introduction to Business and Marketing, Fundamentals of Technology, and Digital Media Production. Through these classes, she helps students build practical skills while also developing confidence and creativity that extend far beyond the classroom.
Nealis’ path to teaching was not originally planned, but it quickly became clear it was where she was meant to be. Raised by strong influences in her family, she learned early that leadership is less about recognition and more about service, consistency, and helping others grow. That foundation was further strengthened during her graduate studies, where she reflected on the life and legacy of her great aunt, whose quiet impact on others reinforced the kind of educator Nealis strives to be each day.
Her teaching philosophy centers on connection. While she values the content she teaches, Nealis believes the most meaningful part of her job is ensuring students leave her classroom with a stronger sense of self-worth and belief in their abilities. She carries with her the lessons of the many educators and mentors who once poured into her, individuals who recognized her potential before she fully saw it herself and modeled what it meant to invest in people.
At Stillwater, Nealis brings that same intentionality into every class, focusing on building trust and creating an environment where students feel supported. She understands that lasting learning happens when students feel respected and cared for, and she works to make that the foundation of her classroom experience.
Outside of school, Nealis’ life revolves around her family. She and her husband, Jimmy, whom she met at Oklahoma State University, stay busy raising their two sons, Jack Henry and Gus. Whether it is watching them compete in sports, spending time hunting and fishing, or cheering on Oklahoma State athletics, family remains at the center of everything she does.
