VYPE: What grade are you in and what do you compete in?
Daniel: I am a junior at Stillwater High School and I am a member of the school’s Academic Team.
VYPE: What has being on your team taught you?
Daniel: It has really taught me how to work with others.
VYPE: What teammate has had the biggest impact on you?
Daniel: The teammate that has left the biggest impact on me would be Alex Kim because of the way he performs when competing really opened my eyes to the scope of talent that is present in Academic Bowls.
VYPE: What is the best advice anyone has given you?
Daniel: The best advice anyone has given me was that I should always persevere in what I do. That no matter what I do, I should always persevere, and never give up on what I’m doing.
VYPE: Who is someone that inspires you?
Daniel: I would say my dad inspires me. That’s because of how he really works hard for us, and he’s always been well-read and educated, helping me with homework as well as studying for exams.
VYPE: What teacher has had the biggest influence on you?
Daniel: My favorite teacher would probably be Mrs. Royer. She taught the Gifted and Talented Program at Sangre Ridge Elementary, and really helped me broaden what I’m interested in by covering a myriad of topics ranging from rocks, to magnetic fields, to even some coding.
VYPE: What is your all-time favorite meal?
Daniel: My all-time favorite meal would be a Big Mac and Fries from McDonald’s.
VYPE: If you could take a vacation anywhere, where would you go and who would you take with you?
Daniel: I would go to Rome, Italy. I would take my whole extended family to come with me, to experience all of the wonders there.
