On fall nights in Stillwater, when the stadium lights cut through the Oklahoma sky, Clark Brasuell settles into the rhythm of the game like he’s done a hundred times before. A senior at Stillwater High School, Brasuell commands the midfield, shifting between defensive grit and attacking creativity with a calm confidence built over years of sacrifice.
“I’m motivated by my parents and Christ to do the best that I can do in everything that I do.”
That mindset has shaped more than just his play. Balancing academics, athletics, and involvement in Beta Club and FCA hasn’t come easy. Early mornings and late nights became routine, a quiet tradeoff for chasing excellence both in the classroom and on the field.
Brasuell credits one teacher in particular for helping him grow beyond the game.
“Mr. Hesler taught me more than stats. I learned a lot of valuable life lessons through his class.”
Those lessons have shown up in defining moments, none bigger than a senior-year clash against Piedmont. With the game on the line in overtime, Brasuell stepped up for a penalty kick that would decide it all. The stadium held its breath. Then the net rippled.
“That was the highlight of my career so far, hitting the game-winning penalty in overtime.”
But Brasuell’s story isn’t just about individual moments. It’s about relationships built over years of shared effort. From longtime teammate Mason Peeper, a friend since fifth grade, to underappreciated contributors like Grant Weiberg, Brasuell values the collective grind behind every win.
He still circles certain matchups on the calendar, especially Jenks, a team he’s relished beating, including a memorable 3-1 victory.
Through it all, soccer has given him something deeper than competition.
“It’s helped me become proud to be a Pioneer and have pride for my school.”
As his senior season winds down, Brasuell leaves behind more than stats or highlights. He leaves a standard, one built on discipline, faith, and a relentless commitment to being his best, wherever the field may take him next.
