Stillwater’s Avery Will – Volleyball Spotlight – Presented by The Kelly Agency, LLC – Shelter Insurance

Avery Will has been a standout for the Stillwater volleyball team, playing primarily on the right side while stepping into the middle when needed. Her motivation comes from her teammates and the shared goal of contributing to the team’s success. “I play for our team,” Avery says. “Winning is great, but it’s really about working together and supporting each other.”

Her parents have been her biggest role models, teaching her the value of hard work, perseverance, and kindness. “Their constant support and sacrifices inspire me every day,” she says. That drive extends into her academics as well. Avery credits her 11th-grade English teacher, Ms. Sisler, with having a profound impact on her life. “She pushed me outside my comfort zone and was the best teacher I’ve ever had,” Avery reflects.

Avery, a senior, believes that maintaining a positive attitude has been key to her success. “It’s something only you can control, and it makes a huge difference on and off the court,” she explains. While she doesn’t have one specific highlight moment, she recalls the energy and support during the game against Yukon this season, with teammates cheering and encouraging one another. Another standout experience was beating Norman, a big win that brought high energy and excitement to the team.

Friendly competition also plays a role in Avery’s growth. She enjoys pushing herself alongside teammate Jessica Fahlenkamp, especially during club season. She also understands the critical role of setters, who often go underappreciated but are essential to orchestrating a winning team.

Outside of volleyball, Avery is actively involved in her community as part of the Beta Club executive team and Stillwater Makes A Change. She also admires social media influencer Natalie Zacek for her strong Christian values, which align with Avery’s own.

Balancing schoolwork and athletics can be challenging, but Avery has learned the importance of time management. Representing Stillwater means more than playing well, it’s about displaying sportsmanship, effort, and a positive attitude that reflects well on the school. Above all, Avery treasures the team chemistry in Stillwater volleyball, where everyone celebrates each other’s successes and genuinely cares for one another.
