Stillwater’s Amy Reavis – Athlete Spotlight – Presented by Larry Gosney – State Farm

There are moments throughout the career of an athlete that have an impact on them. These could be personal achievements, or in the case of Amy Reavis, a team accomplishment.

“The highlight of my career was winning the State Championship with my team last year,” she recalled. “It was really special to have experienced that and make history for our school.”

Amy is a senior at Stillwater High School, where she is a member of the golf team. Outside of sports, she is also involved in the National Honor Society and the Beta Club, where she is serving as an officer this year.

Becoming the golfer that she is today is not something that happened overnight for Reavis. Instead, she has invested a lot to get to where she is.

“It has taken a lot of time and practice to be successful in my sport,” she said. “Golf can fluctuate so much between days and tournaments, so you have to be mentally strong and try your best to accept that bad days are part of the sport, but that you can always come back from it.”

Along with all the work she has put in, Amy has had a lot of people in her corner and helping her along the way.
“Some of my biggest influences and role models are my parents and my teammates,” she said. “They’re so hardworking, and they push me to work hard as well. Another big role model is Ann Watkins. She dedicated so much of her life to women’s golf and really supported me and my team. I will forever cherish that and strive to be as amazing as she was.”

Reavis loves the game of golf but she also enjoys competing for her school and making an impact.
“It really does mean a lot to represent my school and community,” she asid. “Last year, we made history by winning the first girls’ golf state championship for our school, and the reaction from the community was amazing. I am so appreciative of everything and everyone that has helped us succeed.”

With her senior year coming to a close, Reavis is looking forward to her future. She will be furthering her golf and academic careers at the University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma in Chickasha.
