Throughout our lives, there is someone that helps us grow and become the person that we are and who we will be. Sarah Davison has a few people in her life that fit that bill and she is thankful for each one of them.
“My parents are my biggest role models,” she said. “They have given me so many opportunities to excel in the sport I love. A teacher that has impacted me is Mrs. Schieffer. She is my leadership teacher and she always finds a way to be positive and make people smile.”
Davison is a senior at Perry High School, where she is a member of the basketball and track teams. Along with her sports, she is also involved in the Student Council, Leadership, the Fellowship of Christian Athletes, the National Honor Society, and the Lions Club.
Sarah has invested a lot in order to get to where she is athletically. And she says that it takes more than just going to practice.
“For me, spending my own time in the gym and getting better is what has made me more successful,” she said. “I think the highlight of my career, especially since moving to Perry, is getting to play with my best friends and supporting each other throughout the season.”
Along with the work she has put in, Davison says that her teammates have also played a big part in her growth as an athlete.
“Last year I was challenged every day by my best friend Kennedy Hight,” she said. “But she graduated and now plays at Northwestern Oklahoma State University. This year a teammate that challenges me is Bonnie Childs. The least appreciated player on our team is Bella Porter. Last year she did so many good things and she’s so good at her position, and there were many games we wouldn’t have won without her and she deserves the appreciation.”
