Perkins-Tryon’s Sydney Cundiff

Sophomore varsity softball player Sydney Cundiff is a member of the FFA program at Perkins-Tryon High School. Cundiff joined FFA in the eighth grade but started playing softball when she was first entering elementary school.

“I have been playing softball since I was in kindergarten-1st grade. I started playing T-ball and have played ever since,” said Cundiff.

Cundiff said the softball team is working hard to have a great season.

“We are a very resilient team that never gives up. We work hard and put in the work. Our team is a very young team, but they are some of the hardest workers I know and always strive to be better each and every day.”

The sophomore said she finds inspiration in her parents.

“My parents are always pushing me to be the best I can be and to never give up or quit. They listen and show me what hard work a determination was and how to succeed. They always show up for me and put some much money and investment into my projects. They are always in the stands cheering me on and being my biggest cheerleaders,” said Cundiff.

As a member of the FFA program, Cundiff is involved in showing pigs, livestock judging, speeches, leadership conferences and community service. Her plans for life after high school include going to college and pursuing a degree in healthcare.

“I want to be an ultrasound tech and specialize in Pediatric Sonography,” said Cundiff.

FFA and softball have taught Cundiff many lessons she will carry with her for a lifetime.

“Softball and FFA has taught me to win with humility, lose with grace, and do both with dignity,” said Cundiff.

Away from school Cundiff said she enjoys doing cheer, showing pigs and hanging out with friends.
