Perkins-Tryon’s Jace Myers
There are some exciting things coming for Jace Myers, a senior from Perkins-Tryon High School. From playing his final season of prep football and being an active member in FFA, to graduating in 2026, Myers is looking forward to a busy first semester in 2025.
As a two-way starter for coach Dawayne Hudson, Myers has shown he has the athleticism to play outside linebacker on defense and H-back or wide receiver on offense. Coach Hudson said Myers is the type of player everyone wants on their team.
“Jace is one of those players that everyone wants on their team. Super involved in the school and has great character. Not only does he play football, basketball, and golf, but he is really big in FFA,” said Hudson.
Serving as an officer for FFA brings another level of responsibility to an already packed life for Myers, but it’s something he embraces.
“In FFA I serve as a chapter officer. I compete in prepared and extemporaneous speaking as well as in livestock judging,” Myers said. “I joined FFA as an eighth grader when my brother told me it would change my life.”
His brother has been a source of inspiration throughout his life.
“My biggest inspiration is one of my older brothers, Trey. He was the one that told me to join FFA, and more importantly is my go-to when I have problems with not only religion but the day-to-day life,” said Myers.
Coming into the new season, Myers said he and his teammates are looking forward to competing against an old rival.
“I am most excited for the Sulphur game. After last year there is an unspoken understanding that we will beat Sulphur this year,” said Myers. Away from the field, Myers said he enjoys spending time play golf and spending time with Christ.
