Everyone has a role model in life. For Perkins-Tryon’s Jace Myers, he has several people that he looks up to. When Jace grew up, there was no doubt that it was his father.
“He taught me everything I know about being successful not only on the court but also in life.”
Another role model for Jace is his mother.
“She has always pushed me to be the best version of myself and been there in the times of need.”
These role models have helped shape him into the leader he is today.
Going into his Junior year, Jace is a multisport athlete. He plays Football, Basketball, and Golf and is very active in each sport. He is also heavily involved in the FFA organization.
When I asked Jace what his favorite hobby is he said, “My biggest hobby by far is FFA, an organization that has tremendously helped my leadership skills on the court. It has taught me a lot of different skills and allowed me to meet a lot of great people.”
One person that Jace grew up with and learned a lot from was his brother. Not only was he someone that Jace looked up to, but when I asked Jace what the highlight moment of his career was he said, “My freshman year I was lucky enough to have the chance to play a lot of minutes alongside my older brother. It was truly amazing to grow up watching him play and finally be able to step onto the same court as him.”
Jace had obviously learned a lot from his brother on and off the court. When I asked Jace what it took for him to personally be successful in Basketball he told me, “To be successful in basketball takes a couple simple things that creates great success.” His three main points were fundamentals, work ethic, and knowing your strengths and weaknesses.
Jace is constantly trying to improve himself on and off the court and takes everything he has learned into his everyday life.
