High school students have to work hard in order to keep up with their daily assignments so they do not fall behind. When you mix school work with athletics and other extracurricular activities, it can cause for a somewhat busy schedule. Bristol Inselman says that it helps to have really good teachers.
“It is hard to balance school and activities,” she said. “But my teachers are pretty understanding and give me time to make up work and will help me catch up and they love having kids that are involved.”
Bristol is a freshman at Perkins-Tryon High School where she is a member of the school’s golf team. She is also involved in the Future Farmers of America and the Student Council.
She loves the game of golf and Inselman knows what it takes to compete at a high level.
“It has taken a lot to be successful in golf because there are so many things you have to think about,” she said. “For me I just need to stay in the game until it’s over. In golf there are so many ways to come back and win or at least shave some strokes. Things that motivate me are, sinking birdie putts, my team, and my love for the sport.”
Throughout her career, Bristol has made a lot of memories on the course, but she says that there is one that is really special to her.
“The highlight moment of my career so far happened during my eighth grade year,” she said. “We were undefeated as a team and I placed individually at every tournament. I also shot my best 9 hole score that year with a 42.”
She also enjoys competing alongside her teammates on the course and working with them in practice.
“The teammate I enjoy working against the most in practice is my friend Hadley,” she said. “Hadley and I have always golfed together and we like to compete but also cheer each other on. The least appreciated player on my team is Ellie. Not just her score but her attitude and the way she lifts people up. Ellie can be having a bad day but still be cheering others on and you can tell she is really passionate for golf. So I think Ellie deserves a big thank you for all she gives to our team.”
